The school year has begun and we are back in the classroom. Our goals for the year should include doing well both academically and socially. Our kids should have positive thoughts that their new grade is going to be exciting and full of possibilities. Remind them that if they walk tall and smile, people will pick up on their positive energy and reciprocate the feeling. Go into every situation with a productive outlook. Remember to give every one the benefit of the doubt and communicate your feelings. Sometimes we may misjudge a situation or a particular act. Speak up and engage with peers!<\/span><\/p>\n

I recently came across this poem and thought it worthwhile to share.<\/span><\/p>\n

Words Are Windows ( Or They’re Walls)<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

I feel so sentenced by your words<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

I feel so judged and sent away<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Before I go I got to know<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Is that what you mean to say?<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Before I rise to my defense,<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Before I speak in hurt or fear,<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Before I build that wall of words, <\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Tell me, did I really hear?<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Words are windows, or they’re walls,<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

They sentence us, or set us free.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

When I speak and when I hear, <\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Let the love light shine through me.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

There are things I need to say,<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Things that mean so much to me,<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

If my words don’t make me clear, <\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Will you help me to be free?<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

If I seemed to put you down,<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

If you felt I didn’t care,<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Try to listen through my words <\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

To the feelings that we share.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n
